2022 Special Election for Vocational Budget Question

On Tuesday, January 25th, there will be a special election to determine the approval of funds for the construction of a new Northeast Metropolitan Regional Vocational High School.  The election will be held at one single poling location which will be the Malden Senior Center located at 7 Washington Street and the polls will be open from 11AM to 6PM.  Regardless of normal voting precincts, all voters will cast their in-person vote for this special election at the Malden Senior Center. 

The date and time of this election was voted on by the NMRVS School Committee at the December 9, 2021 meeting. Designation of Polling Location for January 25th Election

During the City Council meeting of December 21, 2021, the Malden City Council unanimously voted to designate the Senior Center located at 7 Washington Street as the polling location for the NMRVS Special Election. All precincts citywide will vote at this sole location during the hours of 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

School Committee Vote Mandating Special Election 

On December 9, 2021, the Northeast Metropolitan Regional Vocational School District School Committee voted, by a vote of 11 - 0 to hold a District-wide Special Election for a budget question seeking approval to appropriate the amount of $317,422,620 for the purpose of designing, constructing, equipping, and furnishing a new Northeast Metropolitan Regional Vocational School and related athletic facilities, located at 100 Hemlock Road in Wakefield, Massachusetts 01880 to be held on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Absentee Voting 

Absentee applications must be received by this office at least four business days prior to the election. To request an Absentee ballot, submit a written request or download one of the applications below, include an original signature and submit to this office via mail, drop box, or email at elections@cityofmalden.org. All absentee ballots must be received back to City Hall by 6:00 PM on January 25, 2022.
