The Evidence Control Unit is responsible for securing all property that comes into the control of the Malden Police Department. Such property ranges from evidence from a crime scene, seized items pending further investigation, surrendered items, and lost/found items. Property that comes into the Evidence Control Unit is assigned a property number and stored in a limited access, secure environment. All evidentiary property is kept pending the disposition of all court matters and the retrieval of any property is done through appointments only.
