Malden Is Moving
Malden is Moving! (MIM) is a Municipal Wellness and Leadership initiative, sponsored by the Malden Department of Public Health. This movement is focused on lowering the risk of chronic disease by supporting equitable food access and active living opportunities in the City of Malden. The City of Malden’s Public Health Department in collaboration with its partners at the YWCA Malden coordinates the Malden is Moving! initiative. Working with a diverse network of partners to implement proven policies and practices to create environments that support healthy living. Policy, system, and environmental changes (PSE) are a way of making sustainable, lasting change within Malden to make healthy choices practical and available to all residents.
This program collectively engages a cross-section of local agencies, community groups, businesses, coalitions, residents, and youth. Malden is Moving! will allow a new framework to make Malden a healthier community. MIM focuses on increasing access to healthy environments by changing policies and practices to create the conditions to eat play and move where they live, learn work and play.
