Mayor

The Mayor, the executive branch of Malden government, is elected by the voters and serves a four-year term. The Mayor oversees a budget of $179 million and a staff of 1,300 employees across a variety of departments. The Mayor also serves as Chairperson of the Malden School Committee. The Mayor and his staff respond to resident inquiries and issues concerning all aspects of City government. 

The Office is also the headquarters for business strategy and development as well as communicating about the activities of City government utilizing technology to provide more efficient and improved service to the public. The City's website is maintained from within the Mayor's Office, and the Career Connections Initiative Program and Mayor's Youth Employment Program are also administered from this office.
