Hazardous Waste Collection Days

Residents can bring items listed below to the DPW yard on these designated HHW days and they will be recycled.  Please note that items are recycled for a fee and can be paid for by using  CASH ONLY.  For the fee schedule, please contact the Malden DPW.

Accepted Items and Associated Recycling Fees

The following is a list of items designated "hazardous" under Department of Environmental Protection guidelines:

  • Motor Oil ($1 per gallon)
  • Used Oil Filters ($2.50 per unit)
  • Oil paints as well as stains and varnishes:
    • 1-5 gallons - $10
    • 6-10 gallons - $15
    • 11-15 gallons - $20
    • 16-20 gallons - $25
    • 21 gallons or more - $3 per gallon
  • Automotive Batteries ($1 each unit)
  • Cathode Ray Tubes, including televisions and computer monitors ($25 per unit)
  • Fluorescent light bulbs
  • Nickel Cadmium Batteries
  • Tires ($5 per car tire, $20 per truck tire)
  • Fire Extinguisher ($10 per unit)
  • Electronic Waste

Collection Dates

These items must be disposed of on a Hazardous Waste Recycling Day conducted seasonally by the Department of Public Works.
