2017 Municipal Election Information

In 2017, an election will be held for all members of the City Council and School Committee. Members of the City Council and School Committee are elected to two-year terms.

The Mayor is elected to a four-year term. A Mayoral election will not be held in 2017; the next Mayoral election will be held in 2019.

There was a Preliminary Election held in Wards 3, 6 and 8 on September 19, 2017. Here are how the ballots appeared.

Due to the number of candidates, a preliminary election was not required in Wards 1, 2, 4, 5 and 7.

The Municipal Election will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 in all wards. Polls will be open from 7AM-8PM.

Voter Registration Information

  • To check your registration status, click here.
  • The deadline to register to vote in the Municipal Election is October 18, 2017.  You can register to vote by mail or online or in person at the City Clerk's Office during regular business hours.  To assist you in registering in person, the City Clerk's Office will be opened from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on October 18th.  To register by mail, you can download a form to complete and mail.  Or you can register online.
