Resources for Individuals & Families Impacted by Substance Use Disorder

Monday, August 27, 2018

The Mystic Valley Public Health Coalition (MVPHC) is a coalition made up of municipal health departments serving the cities/towns of Malden, Medford, Melrose, Reading, Stoneham, Wakefield, and Winchester. Together, this coalition focuses on substance use prevention and intervention, providing support and resources to communities, schools, families, and individuals.

The coalition identified the need for a comprehensive guide to substance use prevention and treatment resources available in our area and across the state. The “Finding Help for Substance Use Disorders” resource guide was developed for clinicians treating individuals with substance use disorder to assist with treatment placement and follow up care. The guide is also widely used among mental health providers, law enforcement, correctional facilities, schools, hospitals, and families. The guide offers information about a range of services including overdose reversal and naloxone, understanding the continuum of care, adult detoxification, recovery and support groups, adolescent programs, medication assisted treatment, mental health services, and much more!

The printed resource guide has also been adapted to a mobile app version and is available in the Apple/iOS and Google Play store to download, just search for “Mystic Valley Public Health.” The app is free and provides these great resources at your fingertips 24/7.

If you would like a printed copy of the guide, have additions, edits or questions, please email or call 781- 393-2449. For more information about substance use prevention and treatment, or to learn more about the coalition please visit our website:
