Malden Holds 2nd Filipino Festival

Tuesday, June 26, 2018

Malden’s Second Annual Filipino Festival at the YMCA was even more jam-packed than the first! The event was organized and coordinated by former Malden resident Kristine Bautista, from her new home in Washington State. The annual event promotes and showcases the delicious food, arts and culture of Kristine’s native Philippines. Fellow Filipino and owner of Malden’s RE/MAX Trinity, Ronnie Puzon again partnered on the event. Host Joe Bolandrina did a fabulous job keeping the event running smoothly and Nicole Baltazar, a Mayor’s Summer Youth Employment Program Supervisor assisted with coordination efforts.

The program opened with the Filipino National Anthem and was followed by traditional performances of Philippine favorite dances. Long lines at the food vendor booths revealed the enormous popularity of traditional Philippine Cuisine. Local Filipino businesses and Malden organizations participated with booths promoting their businesses as did local artists and crafters who offered clothing, handbags, jewelry and more. Many local businesses contributed gift cards for the raffles. The Festival brought hundreds of people from Malden and the Greater Boston community to celebrate the Filipino culture in our great community.
