Grand Re-Opening of Eastern Bank

Mayor Gary Christenson recently attended a ribbon cutting ceremony at Eastern Bank located at 130 Pleasant Street. Eastern Bank, founded in Salem Massachusetts is celebrating its 200th anniversary this year. The newly renovated building contains approximately 2,580 square feet of space and features a 24-hour ATM. This full-service banking location offers advice and expertise on consumer and business banking services, investment solutions and personal and commercial insurance needs with a particular focus on small businesses. They are particularly proud that employees speak ten languages including Mandarin, Brazilian, Cambodian and Cape Verdean Creole.

One of Eastern Bank’s biggest priorities is giving back to the community. Since 2013, Eastern Bank has donated more than $370,000 to Malden non-profits providing human services, clothing, shelter and workforce development needs. In celebration of the reopening of the Malden branch and its 200th anniversary Eastern Bank made a $2,500 donation to the Malden YWCA to support the advancement of women locally. Their 2018 Targeted Grants focus on advancement of women and have been made to Malden Catholic High School, YWCA, Tailored for Success and Triangle who each received $10,000 to support their work in areas such as confidence building, self-esteem workshops, safety training and even a robotics training program.
