Clerk - Malden Teen Enrichment Center

The Malden Teen Enrichment Center (MTEC) is seeking a qualified and motivated individual. The position involves assisting with MTEC activities and the supervision of teens. MTEC provides a welcoming, structured, safe environment for Malden teens to spend time with their friends, receive homework assistance, take part in enriching activities, develop leadership skills, promote community service opportunities, and much more.   

Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the supervision and direction of the MTEC Coordinator, manages accounts payable within the department; prepares and help monitor weekly staff attendance and prepares and submits weekly payroll. Creates and maintains correspondence including but not limited to: MTEC calendar, Facebook, Instagram & webpage; memos, letters, incident reports and presentations; opens and organizes daily mail; maintains equipment, materials and supplies. Assists with planning and implementing MTEC community events. Assists the MTEC Coordinator with the recruitment, hiring and training of volunteers.

Helps facilitate the programming and activities for high school aged youth including: creating and delivering a variety of programs that engage teens in developmentally appropriate projects ranging from social, recreational, educational and enrichment activities. Assists in maintaining a safe and supportive environment that responds to the needs and interests of each youth and fosters positive relationships with and between them and staff. Ensures programs meet standards of high-quality and best practices in youth development. Provides outreach to and supports partnerships with other youth-serving agencies. Promotes MTEC to attract new members, volunteers and collaborating partners. Participates in ongoing program evaluations, both internal and external and in ongoing staff development.  Performs other duties as assigned by the MTEC Coordinator. 

Pay Rate



Minimum of 3 years of experience working with youth. Background in youth development with an understanding of social/emotional needs of teens/youth. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Experience with collaborative, team-oriented environments. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and various social media outlets. Interpersonal skills that excel in cultural sensitivity, respect for differences and effective communication.

Additional Information

Selected candidate will need to submit to a Criminal Offenders Records Information report (CORI), background check and pre-employment drug screening. The City of Malden is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Work hours are Monday through Thursday 12:30 - 8:00 PM, Friday 1:00 – 9:00 PM (MTEC is open Mon-Thurs 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Friday 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM). Hours will vary during school vacations. Candidate must be able to work within these parameters.
